Service · Moisture & Breathability Assessment

Diagnose before you intervene.

Technical assessment of how moisture is moving through your old building — and what an appropriate response looks like.

Old buildings are moisture-active systems. Understanding where water is coming from, how it is travelling and where it is going is the first step in any responsible repair.

We assess ground conditions, wall build-up, previous interventions, internal finishes and ventilation, and provide a clear written or verbal opinion on what is happening — and, crucially, what should and should not be done.

Signs you may need this
  • Recurring damp problems that no previous work has solved.
  • Salt bloom, staining or blown plaster in specific locations.
  • A recent modern intervention that seems to have made things worse.
  • A survey report that recommends interventions you're unsure about.
What Phoenix Stone does differently
  • Site-based, not desk-based, assessment.
  • Grounded in hands-on knowledge of lime and stone.
  • Independent — we will say when work is not needed.
  • Feeds directly into a considered, breathable specification.
